hi all i have a problem with my fry. they have been in the tank for about a month now doing great! all a sudden i noticed they are becoming very skinny (near the bottum), weak, and often lay at the bottum. I lost 5 fry due to this any ideas what is going on?? my water stats are perfect and i have been feeding them ground up flakes and very small amounts twice a day. Their poo is looking normal color dark and that is all i can observe atm.

tia!

ps. my fry are almost 2 month old!

What type of fry are they?
Are they losing weight due to not eating.

they are platy fry and balloon molly fry. they are all eating but they are acting as i said above :(

sounds like a disease.
Are they scratching or rubbing themselves on the gravel or plants in the tank?
Check them over carefully and make sure they don't have whitespot.

no they aren't scratching against anything, and no signs of ich either.

bacterial or protozoan.
I gather the water quality is up to scratch. Maybe put some Waterlife Protozin in the tank and see how they respond.

i just read about Waterlife Protozin, and i do not believe my fish are suffering from the contents listed as there are no signs.

What does it look like when the fish go to the toilet.

no idea, they close the door
Lol.
It might help if we knew the colour of the poo.

tell them not to flush after they go. Then you can have a sticky beak and make sure they are folding and not scrunching.

Hey Wilder
you're a kinky one wanting to know what colour poo they do :)

sorry i been bussy at work :(

their poo seems to be long and white.

If there thin and producing long stringy white poo it sounds more like internal parasites.
The parasites can pass onto the young from the mother.

ahhh, those darn parasites again!!!!!!!!!

okay Wilder should i use the same treatement as before Ultra Cure PX by Gel Tek. it says 5 drops perfish, what would the dossage be for fry 1 drop for all? lol
