Today a brought home a male delta and put him in my community tank. I have 3 platies, 2 mollies and 4 female bettas in there. I was planning to move him to another tank the second i saw him bully the females, but instead he just sunk to the bottom and is hiding away.
This guy is huge, much bigger than my other betta, who is flaring madly at him becasue he can see him through the glass.
Im not sure he is sick, but he seems to be hiding behind the bogwood and not coming out much. Is this just a settling in phase?

No, he's terrified. You've stuck him into a tank where he will be constantly harassed and bullied. You should NEVER stick male bettas with females unless you are breeding, and even then, extreme caution should be used. The mollies and platies will no doubt nip at his tails and terrorize him. Not to mention...Even if HE isn't the one being bullied, he will most definitely tear all the other inhabitants to shreds.

You should move him into his own tank IMMEDIATELY. Any tank 2gal up will be fine for him.

ok will do, was told he'd be fne by people...but i guess i got it wrong

What people told you this? As they have no idea what the needs of a betta are...

I've always found it funny that people put these fish with so many horrid tank mates...They do not get the name ' Fighting Fish ' , for nothing ;)

You could get a 10 gal tank, and place him into that with some otos and smaller variety of cory with no problem.

he's in a 25L tupperware box atm...i am going to buy an Arcadia 20/35L for him...that should be fine right?
And it was people who said that a male is fine with a 2/3 female to one male ratio....thanks for the advice

You can't keep a male betta with another male, also you should't keep females with males,
You can keep females togther though.
