They seem to be conjoined at the anal fin. Anyone seen this before??

i have never heard of this ever before.
didnt even think it was possible...

Any chance of a pic?

I've heard of this happening on a couple of occasions.

If they are conjoined, I think the kindest thing to do would be to kill it.

cheers :good:

There a some on you tube.

I can ask my hubby if he can take a photo. My camera isn't fast enough to follow them. Not going to kill them just yet. I'd like to see how they fare for a while. If it looks like one of them is distressed I'll consider it.

They can live a normal life it is best to keep separate as they may beable to breed

Thank you! That's a great suggestion. Once they get big enough I might put them in the community tank.

It's your decision, but TBH, i wouldn't keep them. If you've looked at the youtube videos then you'll see that there is always one weak one that is forced around upside down for its whole life, which I don't think is fair.

cheers :good:

Is it not possible to seperate them if their only joined by the fin? Or are the bodies conjoined?

As I read it they're attached by fin so.

Kind of what I was thinking! They're so ridiculously small right now I can't tell EXACTLY how they're joined, but I don't think it's beyond their fins. I'll look again in a week or so. If I think it's possible I'll try.

Sounds good, i'll keep checking this thread then.

If they are joined by fin, then a quick snip of the scissors and a squirt of stresscoat and these guys could be right as rain.

This will be an interesting story.

this one lived for about 18 months they were best of friends lol.The small one had eyes and mouth it not eat all it could do was wiggle

I haven't seen the twins since I dropped them in the nursery tank, so they're 1) great hiders, 2) dead or 3) they pulled themselves apart. I think #3 is probably true because they were so delicately held together that I imagine if one turned one way and the other went in the opposite direction they may have pulled apart on their own. I'll keep checking and post if there's a sighting.
