Shy Swordtails

I've had my 2 swordtails for about 3 weeks now. I had 2 adults, until 1 of them hopped out the tank and died however, I later replaced him with a younger swordtail. The 2 get on well, however, I have noticed that they are both very shy and are constantly swimming at the bottom. They are not shy in that they are scared of coming to the glass- but they just stay at the bottom or amongest my plants. They never come to the top to eat, but will simply wait for the food to reach the bottom- which it doesn't before my greedy danios eat it! Therefore, I am now feeding the fish with a heavier food rather than flakes every now and then so that the swordtails and my cory can get some food too. They also get fed bloodworms once a week.
Are swordtails quite a shy fish generally? Thanks

Most fish prefer to be by the bottom until the light gets turned out. is there any other fish in there??
