I was thinking about getting some cherry shrimps but not sure if my fish will be compatible with them. I currently have 14 neon tetras, 1 harlequin and 4 corydoras. The shrimps are said to be about 1 cm, will they be alright?
The tank is well planted (62ltr) with plenty of hiding spots.
Do I have to think about overstocking as I am probably at my limit now, if not over it.
How many shrimps is a good number?

Thanks for any advice

Hello there, I have 1 cherry shrimp (hoping to expand as soon as the shop get more) but they are about 3 cm long, and, like you I also have neon tetras, and they haven't bothered the shrimp at all. I don't know about the other fish, but neons, in my experience, are compatible. Although I would be inclined to give the shrimp hiding places and plants incase fish do try to eat them!

shrimps will be fine in there, my advice is to get 4/5 at least and they will clean up your tank nicely. with only 1 you may never see it especially if its well planted, with a few at least you should see them. they do poo quite a bit but they dont really add much onto your bio load of the filter so go for it and get more than 1 :good:

I think the shrimp would do good in your tank, dont see any real issues maybe the cories might eat the baby shrimp but not the adults. As far as numbers go maybe start with somewhere between 6 and 10 and then then they breed quite easily. One other thing about your tank get rid of your harliequin they need to be in groups and there isnt really room for more fish in your tank - though if you swapped the harly out you could put in an other cory :) But I think that would be your limit.

As above said they need hiding places to feel secure a good way of doing this is by building a small pyramid out of 2 inch tubing and growing moss over it. It looks good and there are a few tutorials on how to build them here and there.

I had 5 harlequins but the other 4 died within 12 hours of putting in. Thought the last one wouldn't last long but he seems to be happy shoaling around with the tetras. He's been alone for about 3 weeks now so I thought he was doing ok.
Thanks for the advice
