Shrimp/prawn As Food

ive not used shrimp ro prawn as food before, and was wondering if it needs to be prepared at all ? ill be going to tesco and gettting the cheapest prawns i can find, do they just need defrosting, cutting, and putting in ?

I feed defrosted chopped prawns to my Tanganyikans and Malawis and they love it. Just defrost the prawns (I defrost them quicker in a small pot of water) and chop them into pieces that are small enough to fit in your fishes mouth, big chunks tend to get left at the floor of the tank and will rot quickly if they`re not eaten or removed.

is there a risk of fish getting a taste for...ermmm..fish ? the only things in my tank even capable of causing harm are the syno and angel. but my smallest fish are cherry barbs, which i think are too big for both fish.

It won't give them a taste for other fish no.

You should always feed freshwater fish to marines, and salt water fish to your freshies, so as to avoid any possiblity of spreading any pathogens.

i do exactly the same as elisew defrost in water then chop them up and youre good to go. they are a great food scource too , a good scource of protein and amino acids
