calm down, its only a commercial !
i have 4 apple snails in my 48x24x24 and they do a good job but as far as trumpet snails and shrimp i aint had none and would like a bit more info myself
try posting in a diffrent forum :/

I don't see a problem with it but your female bettas might snack on the shrimp.Tasty treat :hey:

 well if they get munched i lose a bit of money but i get some happy girlies hehe im thinkin ramhorn snails an an apple snail

MTS (Malaysian Trumpet Snails) can reproduce like crazy if there's even just a little bit of leftover food. Your betta, when the snails are small, should eat them. Female bettas are very opportunistic about getting food! other apple snails would be okay, except marisa (ramshorn) snails - they're tenticles will be nipped off completely again and again - I guess the make a tasty snack - but it's not good for the snail. :/

As for shrimp - anything small like ghost shrimp will end up lunch at some point. The female bettas I've kept were really great hunters. It's okay, because it's great nutrition - it just depends on whether you're okay on spending money for a betta lunch. Anything that is the same size as the betta can become a snack, so keep that in mind. Larger shrimp, like amano and filter feeders aren't at as much risk because they are much larger than a mouthful, and have a thicker shell.

malaysian trumpet and an apple snail will kjoin the clean up crew... out of curiosity do malysian trumpet snails eat plants?

I honestly don't know - but I DO know that those are usually the stow-aways on plants. I don't think they do - I think they eat the algea. And don't pay for them - see if you can get a couple free from the lfs. Most lfs have problems keeping them in check in their display tanks.

sweet i will probably get a few tomorow im off to an lfs intending to get as much as my clean up crew as possible and then a week or 2 after that i shall get the female bettas

do not get a snail! i reapeat DO NOT GET A SNAIL! they will multiply and eventully they will be infesting your tank by the dozens. as for alge either get the shrimp or better yet get a plecostomus they love eating alge and are very freindly with all kinds of fish.

my tank is not big enough for a plec... i dont think shrimp actualy eat algae and well the apple snail is a definite for my tank however you've made me think about the trumpet snails

You CAN have snails all you have to do is keep the population down. Oh and I've been looking for apple snails for awhile so if yours does breed you can always send some to me lol.

Edit: NEvermind you're in england....
