ok so i have never kept shrimp in my life and was thinking of getting some what do i need to know???????

please go into a lot of detail here

As a first timer, I'd suggest you keep red cherry shrimp as they are really easy and hardy to keep.
I'm a bit lazy so I'll let you do your research as to how they are raised.

I'd start with ghost shrimp, and once you can keep them alive (they are by far cheaper) I'd move up to cherries.  I'm fixing to get some cherries soon!  Shrimp are picky about water so it's not good to put them in a new tank. Ghost shrimp, some of them anyway won't breed in fresh water but they're a good starter shrimp. They are also super picky with medications, so don't medicate tanks with shrimp in them. Avoid foods with copper.  And if a fish is big enough to fit it in it's mouth...it will be eaten.  They will appreciate hidey holes/ caves, and fluffy little plants like java moss or hornwort.

If your in the UK, I would recommend cherry shrimp, not ghost shrimp, as the "ghost shrimp" species we get in the UK will eat small fish.

They are very easy to look after, but you will remember all the facts better if you research them yourself before buying

I also vote that you should start with cherry shrimp. Make sure to get plants :).
