I have just bought some java fern attached to some bogwood and when I got it home a little shrimp swam out. At the minute there is no other fish in the tank but tommoro I am putting in 2 corys and a zebra loach. I think if left it will get munched so I want to take it back to the pet shop on sunday but was wondering if it would be ok in a breeder box untill sunday with some plants or will it die? or will it escape? Do I need to put a lid on the breeder box?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Panda_cory :good:

Also I have some tropical sinking wafers should I put a couple in for it?

Yes as long as your water is all ok, he will be fine in the box until Saturday :good:

Oh and yes to the lid and to food (remember shrimp are grazers).

free shrimp cant go wrong  i doubt it will escape if the top of the breeders box is above the water but that sounds like a good plan :good: what type of shrimp is it? ... if it die's well you'v not lost anything

My Cory's dont even look twice at even the smallest cherry shrimp shrimplet, I have even seen shrimplets barely the size of a course grain of sand sitting directly infront of a corys mouth and no interest from the cory. The zebra loach might be a different story, although my Pakakstani loaches, dwarf charin loaches, Khuli loaches and Borneo Suckers all so no interest in shrimp, even my lizard fish doesn't touch them.

A breeder box will be fine for the shrimp as long as it can't slip through any small holes or gaps, if it doesn't like the box there is a good chance it will either jump out or (depending on breed) walk out of the box so a lid is going to be needed.
