Should Something Be Done About This ?

Now I don't usually buy fish From pets at home but I was in the area last night and thought I would take a look. Anyways I came away with 4 platys and a ruby shark.

Buy whilst browsing I was listening in to one of the younger members of staff giving advise to A lady buying some cold water fish, whilst most of what he was saying was correct, he did say to just leave the tank for 3 days and then adding fish would be fine.

I didn't say anything but really wanted to but i know its not the lads fault especially when the company are displaying this

Now i no that there a business and have to make money etc etc but if they now won't sell fish to under 18s surly they should be giving the correct care info to customers ?

You should have asked them to explain what happens in those 3 days! Would have been interesting to hear the guff they came out with.

Hmm, in a way it's sorta right in a way it's not.

Really it's either 24 hours then start a fish in cycle, or 6-8 weeks and a fishless cycle. Perhaps print off the guides from here and take them in? Unless you can pass them to a manager though there is no chance of any change.

boycott them. the last time i went in one of those shops i was horrified by the condition the fish were in. Almost every tank had at least 3 dead fish. And also, unfortunately there were toddlers banging on the glass of the tanks (parent's fault i know...).

I was intending to buy fish and didnt, i nearly bought some fish food but then walked out empty handed and will never return!

I can't complain about the standard of tanks as there very well setup and do havevs rather nice Malawi tank, but what I don't understand is they care enough to restrict sales to over 18s but don't care to give the right advice

Im not allowed to slag P@H off on my local forum . They are useless idiots. I bought some fish from them about 5 years ago, Ended up with a complete wipeout of my tank. I suppose on a good note, They restocked my tank for free but in the ended I ended up with a refund for everything. There should be a topic I started about it somewhere on here.

It is a sensitive topic here too. Comments like that will get the discussion closed, we see topics like this once every month and they all end up in closures.

I'm not saying all pets at homes stores are bad as when inkept cold water I got fish from there and there still alive 5 years on I just think that a company like that has a responsibility for the welfare off the animals they sell, i no that once it's left the shop nothing can be done but giving out good usefull and correct information. Will ensure that the animals live healthy happy lives
