Following on from my earlier post about changing my 55g tropical to FOWLR i think i have my shopping list sorted,but wanted to run it past you guys before placing my order.

2 x Arag-Live Reef Sand 20lbs
1 x UnderWorld Reef Crystals 25kg
1 x TMC V2 Protein Skimmer 400
2 x Hydor Koralia 1 Powerheads
1 x V2 Refractrometer
Live rock to be ordered and delivered or bought from LFS at weekend
Planning on using my external Tetratec 1200 with LR rubble in and using spray bar for surface agitation

How does this sound?

I'm still not sure about which RO unit -if any- to get.Any advice on this?

If the live sand is more expensive than dry sand, there is no point in buying live. Any sand, when in contact with live rock, will itself become live.

I'd up the powerheads to at least 2 Koralia 2's, if not dual Koralia 3's. Circulation is your friend in SW

I bought a cheapo 36 gallon per day unit, I think its an excellent purchase

you still need adequate flow around the LR to ensure sufficient filtration

that'll be 22x water turnover... more than enough for a FOWLR rank

It is, dual 2's would give you 22x turnover which is for sure enough. If the owner is ever considering corals though, the initial outlay for 3's might not be a bad idea. Price difference isn't that much

Thank you to everyone for the advice and heads up on the equipment to go for.
Got my equipment in now and tomorrow im off to the LFS to look at rock and sand.
This is how its looking upto now
