If you like it ,go for it
In my tanks I have a hollow train that the loaches sleep in,2 urns on their side occupied by an opaline gourami and a rainbow shark and a big ornamen with gargoyles on it.
If the fish like it and you like it then who cares what anyone else thinks
Plus it gives you a load of hidey holes at once
ps thanks for the picture of the albino krib the other evening(prefer the natural color though) :)

I have ahd a shipwreck in my tank for just over a year and actually removed it yesterday because I wanted to for a more natural look and get more bogwood and plants in for my corys and plec.

That said, my tank is only 2 foot and if it were a little bigger and could accomodate everything including shipwreck then I would put it back because the fish did love it. I think if you plant around and even through the wreck then it can look really effective.

Anyway, whatever decision you make will be the right one for you...........

I think it's a purely personal thing :)
I wouldn't but there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. If you really like it, go for it !

I think bloozoo2 Sums it up for me!

i would only want a shipwreck if more than 7 fish can fit inside it and it doesnt have a place to put an airline  . a shipwreck that only holds 1-3 fish seems kind of useless. go for it

I have seen the same one as mentioned before: in two pieces, wuite large and pricey. It was very tastefully done (and may have come with some fake plants attached). I was also thinking the same thing about ships sinking in the ocean......I'd say go for it.

hey, it's your tank - you get to decide all by yourself :D

If we all had the same taste, how boring would the world be...

Check to see if its painted because the paint will most likely chip off. I spent $40 on a nice fake cave and a couple months later it looks like crap because the paint is chipped off in some places. I'm sticking with driftwood and plants from now on.

I've seen some I wouldn't mind putting in my tank but they were both too large and too expensive for my tastes. Some of them do look tacky but IME the larger they are, the better they look. I have been headed more towards "natural" myself but I don't exclude "fake" looking furntiture if I have a place for it. In fact I plan to set up a "tacky tank" with all the stuff I have that isn't natural looking.

Go for it if you think it would look good.

theres one at my LFs thats about a foot and a half. i like it because its black and dark green therefore fitting in with teh rest of my tank. if it was a lighter color i would say no to one.

Unless the tank is large enough to sink a real ship in then no.

thanks to all that have voted
and to all that have replyed with thier opinions.

I'd just like to point out that as mankind has sailed the seas, rivers etc for thousands of years and many ships have been sunk; would it not now be considered a natural thing to see a sunken ship?

My point exactly :p

there are scaling issues at play Paul, its comon for divers to be in the sees too, but never any that are only 6 inches long.

I don't see a problem with the shipwreck if it is what you want. I lean toward the more natural look...or REALLY cool sunken ruins. I love sunken ruins. :hyper:

Of course, if you wanted a REALISTIC looking tank, you could use a couple of beer cans and/or bottles, half a tire, rusty chain, etc  :/

LOL, quality!

I have a shipwreck, it's 6 inch tacky little thing, but I've had it in my tanks since I was 5, and it isn't going anywhere. Up to you what you put in your tanks, but fish do like them I think.
