the reason I'm asking is we have a very large one at work (retail is £119.99)
it is in two pieces and the overall length is about 3foot.
It has three decks and I think it would be great for my loaches,
however I'm in two minds about having one.

I guess the reason for this poll is to see just how many of you
like shipwrecks in tanks

I think it's a purely personal thing :)
I wouldn't but there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. If you really like it, go for it !

Never been a fan of ships, divers, or other silly unnatural toys in aquariums.

But as has been said, it's your tank. A wide diversity in sense of style and beauty is a good human trait. Keeps us from stagnating...

I wouldn't put one in every tank, but hey, if all tanks looked the same it would be really boring! I have one of those sunken submarines with the face things, works well in the tank it's in and the fish love it!

If you like the look of the ship and you think the fish will love it, then go for it!

Unless the tank is large enough to sink a real ship in then no.

Ooh, there's a thought :#

I usually don't like decorations like ships and skulls :p BUT....at a shopping center near me they have a couple tanks in the food court area and in one of the tanks they have a big ship which is also split in two and it actually looks really good. The tank is full of small cichlids and I've seen them go in and out of the ship.

The one I am talking about looks really well made not crappy like most sunken ships you see. In the right tank I think it could look really cool.

I inherited a small shipwreck with a tank and my small upside down catfish lives in it

I actully have sunken ship, and I think it lookes really nice. Its just those plastic-buble-throwing-ugly ones that everyone hates.

I do not like divers and all that stuff, like treaure chests and stuff like that.

I do like rocks though.....

I'm of two minds on the issue, I dislike the idea of unnatural things in the tank, but I like the idea of a filter tube and flowerpot hiding places and all those not so real things that have been in my tanks over the months. I say go for it if it looks good.

Wolf, I think if you like the shipwreck you should use it if you want. That was the first decoration I wanted, but the 2-piece was very pricey, so I didn't buy it. Had I been able to find one I liked on Ebay, I would have bought it. I have 3 tanks now and no shipwrecks, but maybe in another tank someday. It did look like a lovey place for fish to hide and swim around. I was going to put a big anchor on an end of the tank. Cheesy, I guess, but appealed to me. :p

I prefer the more natural setup using materials found in nature. Although its a matter of personal taste. I do not like shipwrecks, air-driven plastic divers, shells, skeletons or any of the new craze of cityscapes with their flashing LEDs etc etc.
If I had over a hundred quid to spend on aquarium stuff. I would be thinking of a large aquarium and a large pet fish. such as a Redtail Catfish (Phractocephalus hemioliopterus).
Only my opinion.

Not a fan of them, I think they're tacky.

LadyMinion likes them though and Martha used to use one as a cave until she
outgrew it but now it's stuck at the back of a cupboard somewhere.

thanks to all that have voted
and to all that have replyed with thier opinions.

I'd just like to point out that as mankind has sailed the seas, rivers etc for thousands of years and many ships have been sunk; would it not now be considered a natural thing to see a sunken ship?
