I knew this time would Be coming Shortly.

Ginger has been showing signs of withdrawl from all the members of the family.
She has lost alot of weight over the last 2 years.
She does not come to us for food anymore.
She no Longer drinks Fresh Water - She will Only drink Green Algae Water - Strange I know.
She No longer comes into the house - unless my father is home.
If my Father is home, then she will enter the house and sleep just next to him on the carpet.
She no Longer asks me for food.
She is now Spending most of her Days Sleeping in the Veranda.

She is Eating only Very Small Amounts of Food.

She has lost her Lustre - I can see the age in her Eyes.

I don't Want to Loose her, but I no there is nothing I can do.

I am not good @ saying Goodbye to Long Time Pets.
I never got to Say goodbye to my Dog.

She has been With me For Over 20 Years.
And I am going to REALLLLLY Miss her.

I just hope she makes it to the End of the Year.
This pix was taken around 3 Years Ago.

WoW 20 yeas is a wonderful age for a cat. She's been incredibly fortunate to have had such a healthy life and been able to reach this age.
She will probably just fade away in her sleep lying on the veranda in the sun and fresh air. Hopefully before winter comes and her low weight and skinny frame can't fend off the cold.
Now, could there possibly be a better way to go ? I think not - she's a very lucky cat

Thats so sad to hear, but she has had a really good life with you and as bloo has said i too hope its peacefull and in her sleep, though i guess it doesnt make it any easier. :(

Thanks Guys.

I Will Miss Her.
When I was Alot Younger than now. When I was Very Ill and Stuck in Bed For days @ a Time. She would sit with me and Sleep on the bed with me.

I don't think I will Get a Cat to replace her. I am looking forward to keeping a Dog again, Narinder sees how much I will Miss her and has agreed to me Having a Small breed of Dog - I want an Bassett and Terrier.

What mum and gran are gonna do without her I do not Know. They are Very fond of her and Gran Makes Her treats when she will eat them.

Mum Dotes on her and Will buy whatever foods she is eating, and keeps at least 5 Different Brands of Mushy Food (No teeth).

A Little History on her.

Ginger came to us after a strange sequence of events.
We were sitting watching Saturday Morning TV. A Small Canary Flew into the Veranda and Perched on the Dining Table Chairs started Singing.
We called the RSPCA and they said they would send someone Over.
We Called on our Neighbour Who had a Mini Zoo in his Garden, and took what we needed from his Spare Supplies.

The RSPCA Man told us we could keep the Canary.

While he was there, Mum mentioned that we were having alot of problems with rats and mice. The area was being Redeveloped At the Time. He Mentioned that he was just going to collect alot of cats from an elderley woman who could no longer cope.

So 3 Days later Mum and Dad went to the RSPCA and Had A look around the Cattery. Mum Fell in love with Ginger the Moment she saw her. A Tiny Little thing Huddled against her Big and Wild Looking Older Brother.

As we had, had a RSPCA person out to see about the Canary, they let us take her home that Same Day. On the Way home she wet herself on me.

Since then she has been with us.

She's Actually Nearer to 26, she was Already 4 Years Old When we got her

Not been to the Rents' for 3 Days.

GIngers stil the same Sleeping in the same spot and only entering the house once Dad comes home fom work, she's eating a little better.

Buts Sad that she has to Go.

:-( I'm sorry Gill. It's always hard losing a pet. All that you can do is reminisce about the great times you shared and keep your chin up.

I'm sorry to here this. I wish some day, there would be a way to make your pets and you live longer.

i hate to say this but she will most likely go off one night and won't come back, we had a cat that was 17 years old and the night before he disappeared i was out back and he came and got his pets like normal and said what I'm guessing were his goodbyes, so i went to the back door but he didn't want in which i thought was strange so i left him out and that was the last time i saw him

Update,

Been @ the rents a Few Days Cause of My Arthritis and Sciatica.
Been watching Ginger - Shes Lost More weight and is Just Skin an Bone.
She's Just receovering from a bout of Worms, Not sure where she picked it up. But the amount of cats around here doesn't suprise me.
Shes Eating alot, Probably the Worms - Mum says she improved a bit with the meds.

Shes Still Very Withdrawn. Stays In the Veranda all day, and still only comes inside if dad is home.

Doesn't look if she has much left in her.

She's Just receovering from a bout of Worms, Not sure where she picked it up.

You know worms can come from the ground. It's advised by doctors that children not be outside barefoot, because they can contract through the soles of their barefeet. Although I'm not entirely certain what type worms can enter a ody that way though...I'm sure not all varieties enter that way. I've heard flies also carry them.

Any outdoor cat should be on constant flea, tick, heartworm, and internal parasite control.... :/

Anyways, worms can come from a variety of sources. The eggs can be deposited in the soil by an infected animal, so if you cat has ever been infected, it will constantly re-infect itself with the very soil of your own yard. Tapeworm often comes from larvae injected into the body by mosquito bites. Contact with other cats, injestion of wildlife, etc. are also common ways for cats to pick up worms.

Glad to hear she is feeling better with the dewormer. Has she been to the vet's? Older cats have a high instance of kidney failure, and if she's not been drinking well, perhaps she is just dehydrated with stressed kidneys, and a bit of fluids would have her feeling better.
Parasites at her age could also pay a heavy toll. Older cats need all the nutrition they can get, and if that food is going to the worms instead of her, it could explain the weight loss and lethargy.

Poor kitty =( I hope she passes peacefully, and sorry to hear that you may be losing a much loved pet.

Mum has always kept up her Meds

Worming - Fleaing Etc. Mum does not like vets and their Prices - All Mums Animals have been Home cared, and only gone to the vets for an injury she could not treat.
Mums a Farm Girl - Water Buffallo - Cattle ect, grown up with animals

Food, she is Very Picky - No Teath, So she Only eats High Meat Mushy Food. She Will Only Eat ALDI's Vitecat, as that is a very east food for her to eat and TESCO Supreme Meaty Chucks.
By Outside Cat I mena she Stays in the Veranda During the Day and Evening in the Living Room Beside Dad. She does still sleep Outdoors in her Purpose Built Converted Greenhouse. Its never Cold as it is heated by the Sun during the day and the Insulation keeps it warm throughout the night.

Purpose Bult TeePee Designed Conco traps the heat inside it. She has a Beenbag inside the hut to sleep in and she will push it around till she is comfy.
She the has 3 levels to Sleep on if she becomes too hot.
Ground Floor is brick and stays cool - if she wants to be cool - Air bricks let Cooler air in.
She Is not Allowed out @ Night as she is very timid and gets scared easily by larger Cats - She freezes and Does not move. If she does move against teh other cat - it is only if she sees us there for backup.

ATM we have a Grey Female that is preggers that is snatching her food, at every opportunity. So after Ginger has finished eating her bowl is Covering with a Pyrex Dish and A brick ontop so that teh Other cats Cant get to her food.
She has Multiple Drinking stations dotted around the Garden and veranda.
She gets a Varied Liquid Diet aswell:
Water - Greenish water is preffered by her.
Milk - Lactolite - She is Old
Milk - Soya
Yoghurt Watered down with Lactolite
Custard - when mum makes it.
Custard - Soya based

Treats:
Squishy Chips
Fish
Leftovers from jacket Potatoe - The Marg/Butter
Bacon Grissle
Sausage

She will Beg at the slightest sign of meat - or if anything smells nice to her. She will jump on to the Display Cabinet and look @ the food on the table then Bug yo till she gets some.
