Shark's Remodeling Journal

alright ill post'em, but im not too happy with the look

but i guess you guys can help me fix it up!

Alright here it is, now i think that if the jungle on the right has time to grow in and cover/hide the co2 tube and the filter intake and give everything a change to grow it might do nicely, but im still an amateur and it doens't look that good at the moment.

but thats why im posting here, so you guys can help!

for the jungle i just kind of put random plants everywhere and im sure there must be a way so how should i plant the jungle? i have these plants:
java fern
wisteria
apanogeton bulbs
cabomba
dwarf lilly bulbs
and so on

also i think all the plants will reach the top so maybe between the flat and the jungle i should put some java fern on a rock or maybe even add the center driftwood piece i use to have and add aja fern all over it

please reply!

I think one really simple change you could make that would make a big difference is to change the background to solid black. It will show off the plants better.

alright ill get right on that!

anyone else have some tips? you think i should go through with the java fern in the middle idea?

Hi,

Not done much aquascaping myself but looking at your pics I would say it looks loads better now. As for improvements, it looks like you've crammed all your plants into the right-hand third of the tank, if you want a graded effect from right to left you many want to fill out the middle with some medium height plants? Just a thought :)

Keep us updated of you progress, always useful/interesting to see what others do.

alright, i have some stuff to do but later on ill post some pics of what ill do

in the middle im gonna put some java fern around to have that slope effect

yeah like slope it er like this \

(now that's inventive typing from me :D)

perhaps a rock or something just infront of the taller plants...just so all you see isn't stems once it grows up?

look at me! i can't even get echindorus to grow in my f'ing tank! not criticism, it looks ace but needs a few special touches

keep us posted!

alright so some middle plants to have a slope

some rocks to not show roots (or maybe ill just surround the tale plants with java fern?

and a black background

anything else?

Yea..you forgot to wait for the plants to grow :D

Tank looks great..it will look awesome when the plants fill in.

Well i added the java fern infront and on the side of the jungle so when it comes in i hope it'll give it that slope effect and cover/hide the roots/stems of the bigger plants

i just refilled my co2 with 1 1/2 cups of sugar and 1/4 teaspoon of yeast

maybe this one will last longer, i also added the liquid ferts again (after todays water change of course)

and great news! my one and only female platy is pregnant...or atleast i think! im looking around for a nice male platy to make friends with her but still no luck.

any comments and suggestions would be really great!

p.s: i know its a little blurry bit i kinda rushed it, sry!

I like it that you placed the java fern along the front glass, too. I am also fond of the one open side type layout.
