I have 1 bala 1 redfin shark and 2 kribs 1 male 1 female all the fish are happy theres no hiding or staying in corners they all swim around the tank fine but every now and then the kribs will chase the bala very rarely and sometimes have a little go and the redfin but today i noticed the redfin having a proper go at the male krib one min there all fine swimming with each other then next for a min they chase each other like mad then back to normal all happy theres are lots of plants and cover in the tank but i really dont want any fish in my tank that feel like they have to watch there back all the time i dont no what to do i love all my fish any suggestions ?????

Hi MrWhite, as i think? i said on another of your threads, the tank is too small, the krib and redfin are only going to get more aggressive as they grow and will try to take over more and more of the tank as they become more territorial.

Oh ye sorry davo i remember im just gonna have to take them back tomorrow i hate my LFS why are they so crap on advice im gonna take the kribs and redfin back keep the bala untill he is to big what about some dwarf chichlids like rams ?

I've not seen your other post so unsure what tank size you have - but I wouldn't say putting a pair of Rams in with your bala is a good idea. Reasons being that 1) Rams get very territorial when spawning and this can cause havoc with them bullying other fish; and 2) that Bala shark is going to grow much larger than the Rams - a hell of a lot larger! - and could easily eat them or take a chunk out of them!

The Bala shark is best kept in a small shoal - when they are kept alone they can become more aggressive.

To be honest - if it's a tank smaller than 3ft I wouldn't recommend any sharks (speaking from experience here) as even the RTBS or a Rainbow needs a good amount of territory space in the tank and will chase the life out of smaller fish (causing stress and illness in tankmates). I recently had to rehome a gorgeous RTBS for this very reason.

Just my thoughts - Athena
