I had a terrifying experience yesterday . I started out on my daily run and was attacked and bitten up badly by two dogs . One was a pitbull and it’s true what they say about their bite . It was very painful and my right arm is mangled up but okay . The emergency room doctor thinks I’m okay . I got five stitches and a tetanus shot . I was absolutely paralyzed with fear during the attack but it was over quickly . Needless to say , I am going to start carrying pepper spray or something when I resume my runs and I am never going to trust any dog ever again . I’m typing this out with my left hand and it’s difficult .

back in high school, I distance ran, and on the training route the coach set up... every day, I would get knocked into the ditch by St. Bernard... it never bit me, but my wife pays for it, as their family used to raise them, and she loves them, but for some reason, I won't let her have one... besides they are cockle burr magnets

Very sorry to hear. I am glad that it was not worse, also it sound very serious. Speedy recovery and certainly it will be good to carry the spray. Are the dogs owners aware of what took place?

A young girl walking dogs couldn’t hold onto them and they broke loose from her and came at me and jumped on me like I was a rabbit they might be hunting . I will start carrying pepper spray because I think I’ll be pretty nervous whenever I hear a dog bark for awhile . Nothing like this has ever happened to me before and I’m pretty rattled by this experience . I should be 100% in a month . The bite wounds look bad but the doctor didn’t seem all that concerned that they might be anything serious so I take that as a good sign . I’m glad I had my water changes all up to date because I might not be able to do that for a week or more .

Yes , I am watching this very closely . When I was at the ER the doctor and nurses were marveling at my low heart rate of 40 BPM . I must be pretty healthy .
Did they give you an anabiotic to take?

Yes they did . Amoxicillin - Clav 875 - 125 MG tab it says on the bottle . 1 twice daily for 5 days . A friend from church who is an anesthetist said they will goof up my gut flora and he brought me something to help with that .

Glad to hear you're doing better! Can't imagine what impact something like that has on someone.

On a side note, I have seen a video of a man who successfully stopped an attack by two stray dogs using a slingshot glove with party poppers.
Perhaps we should ask the TFF R&D department to make Batman-style slingshot gauntlets for you? ;)

a few years ago I went to a friends house and they had two giant boxer dogs like so big there heads where at my stomach (I’m not short either) and they were my friend moms dogs…. Anyway she was telling me how sweet they are and how the would heart a fly and then all of a sudden one jumps on me and start bitting my arm and shaking his head while bitting me I pushed it off and booked it.
I have scars Around my arm and now I am slightly traumatized

I think in this scenario I would prefer a ranged deterrent
