thanks for the advice on the oscars, would severums be comfortable in a 45 gallon tank, if not any advice what fish would be suitable.thanks to all

It would be alright til they were half grown maybe (they get to 10-12" in some cases), but not long term. I'd go for keyholes, rainbow cichlids, or something of that size ;)

Lisas right, rainbows look amazing and stay quite small, you could probably go with;

1xFiremouth
1xConvict
1xBlue Acara
2xRainbow

All nice Cichlids and there shouldn't be too much hassle in there, a few Rainbows for the top, that seems like a nice tank. Oh, maybe a couple of Bristlenoses for algae.

Rainbows are gorgeous :nod:

Here are mine:

I've got a pair (attempting to breed but they haven't quite worked out how yet) in my plec tank, and one male (2nd and 3rd pic) in hubby's 6ft community. Lovely fish, great fun and very peaceful :)

Sorry I have said Rainbows twice, the one for the middle to top I mean Boesmani Rainbows. Both types are lovely though.
