Heya everyone!

its been a while since i last posted on here in the betta section but have decided to set up my third tank! just purchased an Aqua cube 25 litre for my desk so i can watch the betta while studying late night for the legal exams!

just want to get peoples advice of a decent small filter that doesnt blow the betta away i was thinking of the fluval 1 internal has anyone had any experience of this? also can someone suggest a quiet filter as i do actually want to sleep! my 2 tanks downstairs are quite loud with the air pumps and bubbles flowing.
Any help would be appreciated ill add some pics of my other betta tank later who he shares a 60litre with khuli loaches and corys!

Thanks

Gadgetman... I think you're in luck.... No "gadgets" required for Bettas.... They are anabantoids and come to the surface for a breath of fresh air,.... When I separated the males in my broods, I simply put them in jars..... no aeration, no filters, no gravel, just a simple container.

The size you're talking about will need no noisy pumps or anything, so you can watch 'em and have a peaceful sleep.

Without a filter though you will have to do regular water changes which could be anything from 50% every other day to 100% every week. You'd have to keep a close eye on your water stats.

You could run a sponge filter using an Interpet Airvolution AV Mini pump......we have one that runs in our bedroom and is almost silent :good:

Just to keep the water circulating you could use an air stone set very low. I had one in an aqua cube one! They really dont like filters though.

Does this mean you don't need my tank as you've just purchased one?

I have "Elite Stingray 5", i had it in a 15L tank with a betta. Ive moved the betta to a 30L tank with 2 more females, and i have the "Elite Stingray 10" in there.. you can turn the blowy bit so its facing the glass and the betta isnt bothered by it..

A fluval 1 will be a bit too strong in a tank that size, and it has no flow adjustment . Event the outflow nozzle is fixed so you can't point the flow at the glass. A basic sponge filter is a better choice.

Thanks everyone for your help, sounds like a sponge filter might be the best way to go. Also handy to know that the fluval 1 cant be adjusted i remember my poor betta in the other tank being blown away by the eheim filter.

i will post pics when its set up! before i add the new guy in.
