Setting Up Fry Tank

Well gonna set up a 5 gal fry tank and run a hob filter now how can I transfer some media from my main tanks filter so the cycle goes quicker? Do you take like one of the black sponges or something and put it in the new filter?

yes you can take some sponge from one of the other filters that you have
