I'm starting to set up my first planted tank(20gall.). I have the tank, lid and light housing, I still have to buy the filter and heater. But I'm stuck with the lights I understand the wpg rule and my goal is between 2-3 wpg. My lid though only has one light socket and I can only find 15 watt light bulbs that fit it. I figured I would need 40 watts at least and this has got me really confused :S . Is there something I can buy that allows me to use more than one light. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong and give me a little help?

thats the problem with many tanks - not enough space / fittings for additional tubes.

the wattage goes on length, so if you have 15 already, you can get a ballast and new tube kit to hold 2 more - which will give another 30 watts - that will give you just over 2 wpg.

you should be able to fit one in the front or back of the current tube somehow, if not you may have to try making a new hood. have a look at this for a little more idea - http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=86009&hl=

edit: its something like this you can use if you can fit it in: http://www.petsolutions.com/E+Z+Ballast-I-...C-10243-C-.aspx
