And i was wondering if i could keep 4 Angels with 4 Festivums in a 90 gallon?

Or, in fact if those would work, adding 2 or 3 Severums to the mix? I'm really just looking at possibilities so any input or ideas would be helpful! Thanks..

Please though, no Discus, i can't really keep them yet as it's a freshly cycled tank and my Tap water's PH is slightly Alkaline.

Thanks

In a nicely decorated tank with plants (real or fake) and open swimming space, both these fish can be kept together and your plan sounds just fine. As far as cichlids go, with the Angels and Festivums the tank will be full and I'd leave Severums out of it and give the other fish room to live properly.

angel and festi combo sounds good, they can be found along side each other in th amazon...

plecs an corys etc wouldnt really effect th tnk to much either, unless planin on breedin th fry to bring up? (oh an unless it's a 20" plec :D )

'And, Or'

a dozen dither type fish? (1.5">)

just thinkin out loud!

you can add ONE severum. THey eat a lot and need lots of room. 3 angels 3 festis one severum and a small school of dithers and something to clean the bottom. thats pushing tin but if you keep your water changes up youre cool

IMO and IME, stay with just Festivums and Angels and maybe get a school of cories as a nice bottom leveled fish.
IME Severums, altough peaceful, will eat any vegetation and really dont need much shelter and arn't a shy fish, where as some angels and all Festivum need cover and shelter in their tanks such as tall plants, wood and caves so it would be a much better enviroment just to keep Angels and Festivums.
Maybe 3 or 4 festivums for the top,(in thw ild they are seen schooling but don't need to be in home aquaria)
2 or 3 Angels for the mid level(who knows, you might get a pair)
And yo0u might want to get a pair Keyhole Cichlids, brilliant blue edged fins when adults and are best tank mates with angels and Festivums

Probably gonna go with just 4 Fests and 4 Angels. I like the Keyhole idea, but i don't think any LFS around me sell them :/ As for the Severum, i'm probably gonna leave him out now, knowing he'll eat plants as I do have some.

Edit: What about Uarus...

Uarus in my opinion will get to big/aggressive to keep with angels...
there not so aggressive with fish of a similar size or attitude but angels are relatively peaceful for cichlids... could be wrong tho?

Its more likely that the angels and festivums would bully the uaru which are very shy peacefull fish that dont really do well when kept with other Cichlids or any other fish which may frighten them.

I have had kept uarus for 4 years now, and in my experience these fish are no soft touch, ok they would not do well with Mida's or JD's, but they certainly would not be bullyed by any angels or festivums as long as they are a decent size, my Adult Uarus run my 100G tank and their tank m8s are Severums, Angels and a Geophagus. Many flare up occur between my Uarus and the severums, but the uaru always comes out on top

I would be more worried at what an adult Uaru would do to your Angels and Festivums but by nature they are not agressive fish and should do fine.

Just my experience

I have witnessed a tank full of sub adult uaru all cram themselves into one corner because a tiny Appistogramma was flaring at them while he protected his eggs in a lfs stock tank, i also read a artical by Mary Bailey in PFK where she told of a having a group of uaru that did the same thing when confronted by a spawning kribensis. Having bred both kribs and Appistogramma and having bred angelfish i know that angels are far more aggressive when spawning than any Appisto or krib and since it is highly likely that angels when kept in a group will spawn i wouldnt recomend keeping uaru with them.

Yes you are right CFC

The reason i have never encountered this because i dont have any breeding fish and their agression in my Uaru tank. All i was stating was from my own experience, that my full adult uarus are top dogs in my tank and not affriad to stand their ground.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I've decided to go with angels, fests and a group of about 25 or so dither fish. Red-eyed tetras or something of the like.

Decided against Uarus because I read they ate plants, too bad though, they're a beautiful fish! I'm interested in adding a pair of Geos with the above list. I've found a few websites about them, but i'd like a list of Geos that get about 6inches.

How does such a stocking sound?
