My ten gallon has been siting empty for quite awhile well since i got my 37 anyways i want to put dwarf puffer in it i need good ideas for hardware for it to make the puffers very healthy i want black sand and to make it planted with low light plants and cycle/get the parimeters right before adding the puffer but anyways this is my 1st time keeping these fish anything i should know?
i got a filter running on my 37 for this tank along with another one so it will be a quick cycle hopefully

just your basic tropical hardware. a filter for a 10 gal, a heater, etc. you can read about cycling on the forums, the tank needs to be fully cycled before you add the puffers as they don't do well in poor water conditions

have you researched dwarf puffers? are you aware of they feeding needs and whatnot? its best if you do a little research on your own first, then if you still have questions or need clarification on something, ask away

The only think I'd like to add is, make sure you've got a lot of hiding places ;)

yhea i agree ive set up tanks before so i should be able to cycle it maybe try fishless cycleing this time

Puffers are sometimes very agressive (including the dwarf species) How many were you thinking of putting if your tank?
Puffers love to eat snails. If you don't have snails in your tank, feed them frozen foods. Also, the hard foods (like snails) keep their 'beak' short-so if you are only feeding soft foods, you might need to trim it. (Never done this myself-I imagine it would be difficult, so I have always fed them snails)
K, have fun!

3 snails will be gone within 5 hours of adding the puffers :p

--Edit-- ... I just read it a different way, the way you meant it! So ignore the first line there :p 2 or 3 sounds good in a 10 Gallon :) Try and get 1 male, 2 female then ... my males did Not get along and I had to put one on his own. (In a 15 gallon this is, so I think sticking to 2 might be better, unless you got an extra tank)

Their main diet will have to be some frozen or live food, far as I'm aware its not healthy to make them eat a diet of snails only. Bloodworms will be best for this, with the occasional treat of brine shrimp. You do indeed have to add snails from time to time to keep their teeth down. ;)

You might wanna check out the oddball section on this forum, it will have a lot of information about dwarf puffers there. Its where I got most of the information from when I set up my tank ;) Dont know why the mods didnt move it there yet at the first place.

Ps. I cycled my tank with some danios from my other tank ;)
