The MCE 600 is an excellant skimmer. I have one myself although its never been used
As for a sump, I fully recomend you intergrate one if possible. The benefits far outweight the penalties.
Increase water volume and thus higher stocking capacity and more stable water conditions.
Hide all unsightly equipment out of view like heaters and skimmers etc.
The ability to use filtration methods that are simply not practical in most standard tanks.
