hey i have some serpae tetras, i would like to know how to tell the sex apart because i have one serpae that on its dorsal finn it has a separate bit at the front but i am sure its from where it was finn nipped by a red eye, i ll try and get a picture of it.

cheers for the help

The males usually have better color and are thinner compared to the females.

My males show a dark patch and the very bottom and front of their dorsal fin; its a very dark red. My females have a light dan or almost white in that same location. I dont know if this is true for them all, but i have observed breeding and know which are which gender and the trick i have just mentioned holds true for all of them.
