I dont know who else will have seen this article -

http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/content.php?sid=3329&utm_source=PFK_newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=November_5_2010&utm_term=The_greatest_Amazon_River_disaster_in_history&utm_content=html

But basically this is just such a worrying article, the Amazon is dryed up and a lot of our favorite fishes lakes have dried up - the Rio Xingu and the Rio Negro are two that I know of that are bone dry at the moment.

Mix that with the fact that Brazil is implementing 100 hydro electric dams over the next few years which will destroy a stupid amount of the forests and lakes (the last one they built destroyed an area the size of Luxembourg).

This is just such a catastrophy its not even funny so many of the fish in the hobby will die out in this :(

Apart from the habitat, a goodly proportion of our oxygen is also being destroyed and weather patterns being altered

Its absolutely bonkers, are these places not protected? its not just that the fish will die out I bet that the river contributes to every single living thing in the amazon. the mind boggles.

eeek sorry didnt realise Goat had posted already ^^'''
