Sending Mature Media In The Post

i have had a request from somebody asking for some mture media , as i am registered on the donors list. i have said i will post some no problems , but wasnt sure if the bacteria would die off or not . what do you think?

I think that if you post it in a bag with some of the tank water, the bacteria should be fine. If you post dry media though, the bacteria will probs die

Best thing to do is send next day delivery, it should survive but as its getting colder now,it'll probally die of quicker, is there not anyone closer to this person? do they not have a local fish shop they could ask?

Cooler temps won't hurt the bacteria. Bag the same as fish, 1/3 water, 2/3 air. Two or three days shipping is not an issue either, as you lose 10% to 12% per 24 hours. I'll usually toss in a little bit of frozen bloodworms, as they deteriorate they create ammonia.

i have got some ammonia for cycling i could put a little of that in there to help keep it alive
