Ok so i need to send a fish from Essex to London, and would like to know the best way to do it! Have had loads of conflicting advice about which companies, how to package them etc, so can someone please tell me which companies DO allow live fish and how i should package him for best results :) Thankyou! He is a 2 inch discus :)

Officially, Royal Mail only allow fry shipments.

APC is well regarded at transporting fish, they are used by Wildwoods "tropical fish 2 your door" and my shipment of Africann catfish all arrived well last Septemeber.

I've not had the confidence to send fish yet, I did send my colony of Rabbit Snails to "ChrisCook" on here back in spring using Royal Mail's "Special Delivery" service, it was such a relief to hear they arrived ok!

Ok thankyou both for your replies, Minnnt did you write on the box or anything fragile/live fish or anything? :)

I didn't, no.

Here is what i do.

Don't feed for at least 24 to minimise poo and ammonia in the bag.
Raise the temperature 2c the night before you bag him up.
Double bag the fish with opposite ends so he doesn't get trapped in the corners.
Add half a 'bag buddy' tablet to the water too.
Then wrap the bag in bubble wrap.
Then box him up.
Wrap the box with brown parcel tape to help insulate it during travel.

Ensure it's under 2kg if you do go with RM to avoid the next price banding as it jumps up quite steeply.

Okie doke, brilliant thanks! I'll follow those instructions :)
