Hi! i just won a tank off ebay. the guy is emptying it today and i am picking it up tonight. however i wont be able to fill it up until the weekend. Can i save the filter media somehow??? i have another 5g tank can i bung it in there or something?? or just a bucket with tank water??

or should i just say bugger it and leave it all to go dry and die or something?

please help!?

well, get the media, put it in the filter (I assume you get one with it if you get media), and then run the filter in a bucket (or whatever), with some ammonia or a dead prawn, just like a cycle and this should keep the bacteria alive

actually. i picked up the thing and it came with a Hydor Prime 10 Canister Filter.

its pretty munted. a good 3-4 years old i think. turned the water in the bucket instantly blue/grey.

might just buy anothery and start from scratch.
