Thinking of getting a second filter for peat and a little extra bio/mech filtration.
Narrowed it down to a tetratec 700 or eheim ecco pro 300
ANybody with experience of either of those?

Eccos are rubbish, don't buy one. If you want a cheap Eheim, get a classic, but they are a bit fiddely if you work on it regularly. The pro 2's would be best functionality wise though, but cost about double that of a classic.

I had two Eccos fail on me in quick succession, and replacements took time to come from Eheim, so I'd stear clear of that modle  Reports of issues with other lines are rare though....

I haven't yet had issues with my Tetratec's but a few have had them leak recently. Regular applications of Vasaline to the seals though should prevent that. The seals seam to dry out arround the 2-3 year old mark without Vasaline  Mind, so will Eheim's seals in the same conditions... Lesson 1, Apply Vasaline liberally to the seals after every service :good:

The eheim ecco pro 300 is a newer version of the old eccos, so i would think they would be better quality than the old models, but someone whos got one may be able to confirm this.
