Second Filter?

I'm currently running an Eheim Pro II 2028 on my 500L cichlid tank.
How worthwhile would it be to invest in another filter? The water is
generally clear, but I've noticed that particles will remain suspended
quite a long time (sometimes as much as an hour) whenever the gravel
gets disturbed. This is especially the case on the left side of the
tank, opposite to the side where I have the filter's inflow.
The tank is just under 2m long. Could this be a sign that the filter
is underperforming (though it's supposed to be suitable up to
159USg/600L)?
Seeing as the tank is still relatively understocked, I was wondering
if this could not become a more serious issue later on.

Assuming I should consider adding a second filter, what would people
here recommend? An internal filter / powerhead? A second canister?
I suppose the canister wouldn't have to necessarily be as powerful as
the `main' filter in this case?

Also, I was considering purchasing a uv-steriliser and I was wondering if
having a second external filter of equal power would take away from
the efficiency of the steriliser mounted on the first canister's
return pipe. In other words, would I have to mount a steriliser on
both filters for equal efficiency?

Any thoughts?
