Im gonna switch from Aquasafe to Prime as its works out much cheaper. I read this and was wondering what you lot make of it:

If temperature is > 30 °C (86 °F) and chlorine or ammonia levels are low, use a half dose

Considering it says 'or' rather than 'and', does this mean that if ammonia levels are low, which obviously they are in cycled aquariums, that we can use a half dose?

Is your tank kept above 30oC? I would interpret that literally as a half dose if ammonia is low or if chlorine is low, not and, half dosing would probably be fine anyway, chlorine concentrations vary from water supply to water supply and their recommendations generally compensate for these, the doses they recommend generally are double what they should be, you could actually calculate the volume of dechlorinator require if you can find the average concentration of your tap supply and the concentration of thiosulphate ions in the Prime.

Thanks SS, thats what i thought

My tank will be 30c when I get my Discus

I have got prime, no I have been double dozing what they hjave said, because how can 2.5 ml get around 200 litres of water. I'm worried that chlorine will get into my filter.

I'm sure somebody will say it's perfectly fine :)

Lol i dont know if there is a need to double dose but i can understand how you feel

It will diffuse pretty quickly, things always move from a high concentration to areas of low concentration under normal conditions.

Ok. Thanks. Maybe I should start trusting it. Thanks for understanding what I put lol. Just read it back and ermmm maybe I had one too many haha

'maybe i should start trusting it'

LOOL Your suspiciousness of Prime actually made me laugh out loud

Haha! Well using tetra I can see that 5 ml per 10 litres will actually work.

In comparison 2.5 ml per 200, it just makes me question. But I'm sure standbysettings is right. It doesn't take long for concentrate to dilute
