Hi

I am jut setting up my first tank.

Thought i might like a backing and was advised to use Sea View (Mounting an Illuminating stuff).

I hate the background and have removed it but am left with sticky Sea View all over the rear of the tank I can't seem to get it off with any normal house hold detergents (being very careful not to get them near the water I am cycling).

Has anyone had experience with this stuff, which i am sure if you want a background for life is excellent, and could suggest a way to get rid!

Thanks
Fiona

I would suggest that you protect nearby surfaces with newspaper or such and use something like an old credit card to scrape off as much as you can.
Then try using acetone to remove the residue.
*If it's really really sticky then you might want to lightly smear clean oil (vegetable oil, baby oil, etc) over the stickyness, leave it for about 10 mins. The oil will break down the adhesive, which you then scrape off. The oily residue can be removed with warm soapy water or acetone.

*This is also an effective way to painlessly remove plasters/band-aids stuck to skin/hair, to remove labels from jars, etc.

use warm water or even run the hair dryer over it up to soften the glue compound then go over it with a razor blade.
its the metod you use to remove window tints from cars. B-)

neil.

Thanks to both of you.

Got it off and tank looks so much better without the awful backing pic.
