how do i get rid of the scratches on the tank........

Does it have seams? Is it relatively light in weight? If the answers are no and yes, then it is acrylic. Glass tanks are obviously glass because they are siliconned together whereas acrylic is formed as one piece with no sealents.

defo glass then as there is silicone seems

You can but I don't know if you can with water in the tank. With acrylic it is easier to remove scratches but that's also its downside. I'm trying to think of how it was you could remove scratches in glass without draining it.

elbow grease and a fine cutting agent will do the trick!

does the tank need to be empty to do this? any fish safe cutting compounds available?

no you will not need to empty the tank! but if you do you could use some sort of buffer machine making it a shorter job. as for fish safe, i dont think it will matter as most marks are on the outside of tanks. but toothpast makes a good cutting agent, so will very fine soot! lol i kid you not!

all my scratches are inside the tank, toothpaste hummmm, thats what my misses said, i was thinkin about useing brasso.......

dont really want to put any toothpaste in the the fish water thou.....

toothpaste works marvellous for taking scratches out of cd's as well, next time you've a dodgy one skipping all over smear toothpaste over it all, give it a minute then clean it off. be good as new!!

will toothpaste be ok to mix with the fishwater?
