OK - I wasn't even going to go to the lfs today, really I wasn't! But I stopped by since I was out running errands anyway.

They had long finned rams in today!!! I was so excited. They were all males - 1 gold and 3 blue rams. There were also some itty bitty females that were soooo cute.

So, needless to say I got one of the long finned males.

Then I was talking to the lfs guy and explaining my problem with my demon rainbowfish who were even harrassing my severums and he said he'd help me out with whatever I wanted to do.

So, I came home and hurriedly (less than 45mins til the store closed!) got out all 6 of my rainbowfish and my 2 Sevs along with the existing male ram that I had in my 10g and drove back to the store.

They gave me a good amount of store credit and I brought home 6 juvy angels and 5 more neon tetras since I'd moved the original 5 to my 46g for some reason that escapes me now.

I swear, every time I think I have my tanks completed something happens and I start from scratch :S

But I was so excited over the long finned ram that I had to come share! Pics coming tomorrow, I've got the lights off in there to help him settle in.

No, I'm letting him settle in tonight with the lights off. When I turn their lights on tomorrow, I'll see if I can't get him to pose.

When I walked over to the tank where they keep the rams and saw those long fins, I about fell over

If a regular fin and a long fin spawn, what is the breakdown of the chances of long vs. short fin offspring? I assume it's more complicated than a single dominant and a single recessive trait?...

Well, parker I am not really sure what percentage will be regular and/or long finned, but I am hoping some will be long finned when I get my male long finned and a regular golden female together.

This is the male I am paring up with the female.

I love that picture

I posted pics of my rams and new angels over on the Member's Fish & Aquariums forum.
