In my 55 gallon with two small Firemouths and two small JDs, I have a hybrid Synodontis cat and a BN pleco. I'm looking for a few more scavengers to help clean up after the messy cichlids, but corys, my first preference, are a bit too timid for the cichlids.

I'll be rehoming the Firemouths, and probably one of the JDs (both are females) and getting a male JD to go with the female, so that cuts in half the number of fish eating the fish food. It's a small bioload for a medium sized tank at this point.

Any thoughts on good scavenging playmates? Maybe a couple more Synodontis cats?

Pictus might be an option, they are very active and should be able to get enough food.

I would go for Hoplo catfish, there like i bigger version of corys. Any they eat ANYTHING so any left over foor will disappear in seconds. They need to be in groups of 4+ similar to corys and get to aa good size of about 6" so should fit perfectly in a 55g.
