so i just got home from work about 30 min ago and sat down to watch a movie, when about 8 min ago i heard this huge burst from my fish tank and all i saw was huge bubbles bursting out from a hose, so i ran to my nifty DIY yeast and unbottled it but all the pressure had already released into the tank. So i ran and got a bucket and started removing some water so that the filters could dump some oxygen into the water.

well after my fishes settled down from the fright i made sure everyone was okay and lookd why the hose had busted and i have a ceramic co2 diffuser wich seems to be clogged by some white stuff maybe a discharge from the DIY yeast that clogged the ceramic diffuser?

any idea's on what might of happend, and could i still use or maybe unclog the diffuser because i dont want to rebuy it from china lol long time shipping

p.s-Also, i think when i shacked the bottle i might of allowed some of the liquid to travel down the hose, which could of ended up clogging up the system??

I am glad your fish are ok, but you might aswell be speaking spanish as I have no idea what you're talking about!!!!

sorry I cant help!

lol basically my DIY yeast mixture back fired on me and dumpd a hole lot of Co2 in 1 shot, good thing i was there when it busted though

Glad you and your fish are ok!

Sounds like you've already explained most of it yourself!

What type of diffuser is it, can you see inside it? Have you studied it and just brainstormed about ways to clean it?

If its just bioballs inside a plastic tube then you could think about how you could force water through it at a high rate, seems like that might do it.

hey thanks for tip, i bought this diffuse off of ebay,

ebay item

i just ran some water inside of it and some white stuff came out, i still think that some of the Co2 mixture managed to get inside the diffuser and clog it up

First thing it made me think of was a picture of that somehow happening to a pressurized CO2 cannister and the room blowing up, lol. I'm sure those things are safer than that!

a while ago Ian was running pressurised CO2 on our 60gal, it was a fire extingusher though not an aquarium specific one. One night something (I'm thinking the cats are the likley culprit :shifty: ) knocked the regulator onto full whack, came down in the morning to CO2 streaming into the tank and all the fish passed out and drifting round the tank

got it sorted and thankfully managed not to loose too many fish, CO2 can be very traumatic though.

wow, you just made me have a daydream of the perfect planted tank stand... it would be made of strong angle iron to hold up the tank and then have thick steel panels that you could carry separately to cut weight and then bolt to the stand. The panels would create a cabinet with a door that had a cat-proof catch. Anyway, if you had the 1 in 1 million cannister regulator that decided to blow, the cannister would hopefully just bang around horribly inside the steel cabinet and release its CO2! (I guess this is akin to the fabled "brick-chickenhouse", right?) )

never ever ever ever ever say things like that to my other half..... he gets ideas

i guess in some ways your similar to Ian.... the answer to most problems is 'I'll make something'

you'd get on well with him, he's quite scientifically minded too, he'd love to have someone to talk sciency stuff with, i just ask inane questions
