:hyper:  :shout: Hi everyone. Iv'e just purchased my first fish, 5 x Zebra Danio's
After their initial darting about to suss things out they all found hiding places and laid low.
If I switch off the lights 2 of them will venture out and if I switch off the filter and air the other 3
will eventually come out.

As soon as I switch it all back on they run for it ! ! !

Will they settle down & if so how long before they do ? I don't want to stress them un-necessarily.

Any suggestions

welcome to the mad house :hi: :band:
you will be told this is the wrong section so be warned,,,
1st have you cycled your tank yet?
yes this will be normal as fish get frightened easy except my blummin jag cichlid<nothing scares that thing....
give them a few days, always reccomended to leave lights of the first day, plenty of cover makes them feel more secure..

i certainly wouldnt switch the filter off at all if it was me. just give them time and they will settle in eventually. when i put the first fish in my first tank (also zebra danios) they huddled in a corner for ages, but bit by bit they slowly explored more and more of the tank

Yes tank is cycled and water in excellent condition, their just a little scared I suppose.
I will leave the light off for a couple of days and then try it on for shorter periods until
I am able to build up to 10 hours a day.
No real plants yet so shouldn't be a problem.
