Sarpae Tetra Questions

Can 7 to 8 sarpae tetras live happily in a heated, filtered and planted 10 gallon ank with a Betta I already have the sarpaes and I am looking to upgrade the Betta from his .75 gallon (lfs gave bad advice) To the 10 gallon with the sarpae Tetras.
and I cannot have another tank so this is the only way he can go into a bigger tank, this is my only choice so I am hoping the answer is yes, because I also cannot take the sarpaes back
I have heard they are a bit nippy is this true?

Definately not, Serpea tetras are savage little fin nippers! They even nip tiger barbs when they are half the size of the barb and out numbered 3 to 1.

They would kill a fighter.

exactly, do not make that tank with those fish
horrible death for the fighter
try black skirt tetras with the betta
or neon tetras/cardinal tetras
but there is no guarantee your fighter wont kill other fish as well,
it all depends on the individual fish
but i hope this helps

Argh! No! Try not to mix a betta with any tetras, however peaceful they're supposed to be. When I got my last one he had been kept with just neon tetras and his fins had been nipped so short I thought I was buying a female!

Not all tetra's will nip betta's. I've successfully kept about 4 different species of tetra with a male Betta.

No not all of them will but I don't think it's worth the risk.

I think its worth the risk,
most tetras bring about a great and happy betta from my experiences
but hey!
maybe ive just been extremely lucky for a long time haha

Okay since I am hearing all these things about them being nippy, my dad said we might be able to take them back to the lfs and since I have some endler fry that I have right ow when they grow up can they go with the Betta in the 10 gallon, how about 4 to 5 males with the betta

Some people will say not to because of flashy colours etc but I've never had a problem with mine.
