I bought the universal 24 inch glass tops for aquariums but it doesn't fit. It's maybe 1 cm off. Can i sand the edge or do i have to grind it.

i wouldnt touch it myself, get a professional to cut it for you.

If you can find a diamond grade sand paper or glass griding wheel at an affordable price, go for it. Im not sure what else you plan on sading glass with?!

As Tizer said, might be better to get someone to cut it for you!

For the hassle of doing it taking it to glass cutter and asking for 1 cm off i would be supprised of they charged you at all worse case give them a £5 job done

If you have the tools -

-Score the glass as needed
-run insulating tape along the scored end you plan to keep
-using a diamond blade and grinder carefully cut the glass - (If you were cutting a larger piece you could get away snapping it)
-remove the tape, sand the edge smooth
-polish to finish.

If it's tempered glass none of the above will work. Take it to a glass shop if there is any question.

oh i was planning to just use some sandpaper in the garage...

well i guess its not a good idea. Anyone have a clue on where to find a glasscutter?

where are you?
any glass merchant should be up to the job.
however, recommendation, by experience, is worth 100 pages of yellow numbers.(or should that be, 100 yellow pages, of numbers?)
