Would this be enough sand for my africans tank and would it be ok???

I'm going to my LFS tomorow and it will depend how much it costs there.

Why dont to your hardware local hardware store and get Playsand it costs alot less than that does. I paid 3 american dollars for a 50 pound bag

Is any play sand safe for a fish tank once washed???

Yeah it is but wash it out real well. My experience I washed it out for 2 days and that when I put it in my tank it got real cloudy. I couldnt see 2 inches into my tank. But once it settles down it looks real good.

In my experience, playsand it has no effect at all.

Most sand is neutral - marine sand (aka aragonite, aka oolitic) has the same buffering capabilities as crushed coral. Play sand is perfectly fine, but brand of it can make a difference, some people have found it perfectly dust free while others have found it horribly dusty. Pool filter sand is another good, neutral sand that is clean and safe.
