Sand Or Gravel For Gts

I've got two green terrors both in 30 gallon longs by themselves. I've always had white play sand in there. Every time I cleaned out the tanks there usually was a little algae on the sand after time a lot of the sand got sucked up. Now its time to either put more sand in or switch to gravel. I know they like to dig I've seen mine grab a mouth full of sand and spit it out several times. What I'm wonder is would they prefer gravel of sand and if so what kind like real fine or large or medium etc. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

lol must be a mistke for it to be pinned but then again it's more easier to find lol.
Yeah i think fine will be best or 1mm at biggest.

Whichever you prefer really. The GT won't mind.

Btw, sure you know, but a 30gallon only good as a grow-out for 2 GTs.

id stick with sand unless cleaning it somehow became an issue
