Do you think any amount of boiling/soaking a small piece of beach driftwood would take enough salts out of the wood to make it ok for a freshwater tank?

the answer is probably no, but i found a great one and im hoping someone will say yes! :D lol

probably not.
searching for wood to place in the aquarium can be tricky.
you could boil and soak the wood for long enough to remove the sea salt but how long this would take i do not know.
not many british timbers are safe in the aquarium as some will make the water toxic.
i do know that british oak is safe when its not green or rotting , hawthorn is ok as well as beech but beech will become soft and plecs will start to destroy it quickly.
you could find a lovely looking branch or stump that will make your tank look like a slice straight out of the amazon river or what ever but timber from an unknown source can be dodgy.

The main problem with driftwood is that it is driftwood, i.e, not sinkwood. So while you're generally alright if it's properly clean, you won't get it to sink without a massive amount of effort.
