Salt Bath Measurements

I have a couple of danio fry with spur-like growths under their chins, which i've been told on here is a sign of a bacterial infection?

They're nearly adults now so hopefully will make it, but i've bought some melafix off ebay that won't come til next week.

I thought in the time being i might try adding salt to the tank (it's only the two of them in there) if it might help. I have epsom salts and sea salt at my disposal. Which would be the better option? And what measurements per litre/gallon?

Any advice much appreciated!

I believe the dosage is 1 teaspoon per 5 gallons

it is best give them a salt bath. this is how i do it i use a margarine tub or some thig similar in size half fill with tank water add 2 table spoon full of salt i use coooking salt it is as good as any. net out fish and hold net and fish in salt water for up to 30 seconds' if fish turns on to ther side put them back in there tank straight away they may look stunned for a few seconds but always recover.

How long before i do a water change to lower the salt concentration again?

Update: sorry fish48 hadn't read your reply yet! So it's better to have short bursts of intense salt than a lower concentration for a longer period?

The salt needs to be dissolved before adding it to the tank. I use 1 tsp per us gallon. I am not sure about the intense salt bath though.

there is no need to be adding it to the tank a salt bath is more beneficial

What is a salt bath good for? Is it ok for all fish (even Corys and sensitive ones)?

no not for Corys and and other cat fish it is only good for poorly fish such as white spot and fungus.

I'm going to try the quick salt bath method later. Do i need to repeat it on a daily basis? eg. Once/twice daily?
