I'm a bit confused about how you are meant to stock sailfin mollies. Some websites say that you need to keep them in 1 male to 2-3 female ratio and other places talk about sailfin molly pairs. When I saw them in our fish shop they were sold in pairs as well.
Why pairs? And why do other sites recommend keeping more females then?
Also, would sailfin males chase other livebearer females as well?

They recommend 2-3 females per male for mollies so the male isnt always bugging the same females

They need 2-3 females per male, but stores do sell them in pairs. Mine came in a pair and even the people working there dont know why the company does it that way. My female sailfin chases the female guppies, most of them have either died from stress or died from bites

The famale sailfin was chasing as well? I have guppies and sailfins but I haven't noticed any between that lot. There is only 1 dalmatian molly male that seem to chase females around a bit.
I generally keep to the 2-3 females to 1 male ratio - I just didn't quite understand why they have to be sold in pairs then. I will stick to the usual ratio.
Fish stores really should advise you of the correct number of fish and ratio for each species!

The guy I got my pair from even said he knows they should be 2:1 or 3:1 however the store says pairs only so they can only sell them in pairs they didnt have a price in their system for single sailfins
