Took my GT to the LFS today :-( :-( :-(

The breaking up the tank with bogwood worked for about a week, but quickly she reverted into being a complete b%^7h. She actually sought Boris out (and the red spot sev), so it's not like they were going into 'her territory'. They obviously had another major barney last night, as Boris has a nip by his eye and several scrapes. I knew that leaving it any longer there would be a serious casualty.

So.... Hopefully the big tank will be a bit calmer now!

While I was at the LFS I got 5 more Rainbows for my 50g, a female Ram to go with my male and two more Khuli loaches to go with my others. Also got two amazon swords. The Rainbows are fantastic, I know they aren't NW cichlids, but I am really enjoying them

How sad, I always get confused when people mention raibows, I always think of the rainbow cichlid

sorry to hear it . GTs can be like that . still you came away with some good stuff at least

She started flaring and getting very aggressive. Boris could basically fit her whole mouth in his mouth, so only a matter of time before something nasty happened. Not nice to watch either, a tank is supposed to be nice to look at

My Rainbows are the Praecox/Dwarf Neons - they are gorgeous and have added some very colourful movement to the tank :)

Sorry Chilli

I`m sure you made the right choice, even if it is no consolation at the moment x

Sorry to hear that Chilli. Although someone's going to get a lovely GT from the shop. Don't see many around here that's for sure.

I also got some M.praecox yesterday. Lovely fish !! What good taste you have !

Sorry letting fish go is always hard for me even if I don't like the fish. I always feel bad and think they will not be cared for as well as I did when I bring them to the store. I have only done this once I might have to do it again :look: . The LFS around me are not that great and there are very few real fish people in town.

I'm sure your fish will find a good home. You got to do what you got to do.

Thanks all, it was very difficult as I had her from less than an inch and watched her transform into a beautiful fish, but beauty isn't everything  and I tried everything to keep her. Oh well.

The LFS said she'll probably go in their large display tank, but said someone else who works in the shop will probably bag her first as she's so nice.

Hamfist - yeah they are gorgeous aren't they! Got 5 more myself yesterday, so got a school of 11 (odd number, but they did 5 for a fiver yesterday so just did that) and they look lovely swimming around together :) Never had a big school of the same fish before and not sure why as it's stunning :) How many did you get?

He got four and I'm pretty sure he does not need me nagging him to get some more (I believe 5 is recommended minimum)!

Just in case it was a lack of stock at shop issue, Pets At Home on Winchester Road and Maidenhead Aquatics in Fairoak often have them in ;)
