Running Costs

I know this answer may be slightly ambiguous but how much would it cost to heat and light a 240L tank over a month using a 300watt heater and X2 40watt lights?

Are we talking pence or pounds? Has anyone noticed a sharp increase in the electricity bill since setting one up?

Hi,

If you live in the UK then you can use this to roughly caluclate your costs, you will need to know how much your Kwh rate is, you should find this on your electricity statement.

I can certainly tell you it's pounds not pence... I think my 120l cost around £100 a year electricity wise but it isn't proportional. Ie. a 240l tank wont neccesarily cost double the price of a 120l

I was told by a bit of an energy efficency freak that his 3 foot tropical tank with lights on daily uses more electricity than boiling the kettle...
