Ive got two rummy nose's in my tank at the moment (hoping to get some more soon), and one of them has a noticeably redder nose than the other. Having used the search function, I gather that this usually means theyre stressed/unhappy. My question is two-fold:

What can I do to cheer him up
and
Why isnt the other ones nose faded?

Size of tank in gallons or litries.
HJow many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Is the nose inflamed.

20 gallons, casually stocked (not over not under) but with an oversized external filter

stats:
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5

Nose isnt inflamed

Are they both males?

Could be he's been bullied by the other.

Try adding a few girls in there - 4 should do if you have room without over-stocking :good:

If its not inflamed or look infected I wouldn't worry for now.
Maybe add some females like a poster has suggested.

No idea whether theyre males or females, any tips on sexing? The only ones I can see is that one is fatter than the other!

Yep, its the one with the faded nose im worried about, the other looks fine! Hes been like this for a few hours now although seems to have perked up a bit. hopefully he'll be okay in the morning and im worrying over nothing!

Sorry I read it wrong thought you was worried about the nose being redder than the other one.
Have you just bought them as rummy noses are very funny to climatise.
If his nose is still faded in a couple of days get back to the board as it should be bright red.

Nope theyve been in the tank longer than anything else! Will update this thread tomorrow evening if the situation hasnt changed, fingers crossed guys. Thanks again for all the help

They need to be in bigger groups maybe think of adding some more in you are not overstocked.
