I am definitely no expert on Bolivians, but I know they're harder to sex than Blue Rams. Do a google search for "sexing bolivian rams" or "sexing microgeophagus altispinosa" and you'll get some good info.

Apparently, according to one site, you can tell by some sort of dorsal fin extension in mature males, and thats about it really.
