I'm basing it just from the colours the "female" has on the fins. I dont think I've seen a female apisto with that much, if any colour on the fins, though I would like to be proved wrong for the sake of you having a pair.

Crisis averted! You have a very gorgeous pair of Apistos!
The female is usually smaller and has more of a yellow colouring, she also has less colour than a male.
Congratulations handsome, I'm so glad you have got a pair and sorry if we panicked you!

Got called down for my dinner half way through trying to get a clearer shot (Oh, pork chops- thanks for asking) and got a bit of indegestion bolting it down to get back to the task in hand )

Ok, so I don't have to destroy the tank decor trying to catch the little devil, it is a she after all.

Seriously though, I do thank you all for what could have been a fopah and my photography is crappy. A grands worth of Nikon and a lifetimes worth of usless photographer
